Starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen, the superhero fantasy epic has overtaken Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Mohanlal-starrer L2 Empuraan to secure the top spot at the box office.
According to industry sources, Lokah collected ₹130.50 crore net in India and an impressive ₹266 crore worldwide in just 23 days since its release on 28 August. This surpasses the lifetime earnings of L2 Empuraan (₹105.25 crore India, ₹265.5 crore worldwide), as well as Manjummel Boys (₹240.5 crore) and Thudarum (₹234.5 crore).
Produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, the movie is being hailed as Mollywood’s biggest blockbuster, with theatre lists still expanding across Kerala even into its fourth week.
Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra introduces audiences to a five-film universe exploring mythological creatures. The film follows Chandra/Neeli (Kalyani), a yakshi, who crosses paths with her unsuspecting neighbour Sunny (Naslen), setting off supernatural events. The film also introduces Dulquer Salmaan as Charlie, a shapeshifting odiyan, and Tovino Thomas as Chathan, a goblin whose story will unfold in future instalments.
With cameos by stars like Mammootty (voice role), Soubin Shahir, Anna Ben, and Santhy Balachandran, the film blends myth, horror, and fantasy into a cinematic spectacle that has captured global attention.
