USA – The new global action and adventure film ‘Spider Man: Brand New Day’ continues to achieve advanced record levels at the American box office, registering about $70 mn during its third weekend of screening.
This performance places it second historically for highest third weekend earnings in the North American cinema sector. The domestic revenue for the film rose to $785.8 mn in just 17 days of release, surpassing the record of the film ‘Avatar’ at $785.2 mn and rising to 4th place on the list of highest grossing films in American box office history.
Meanwhile, the drama and science fiction film ‘The Odyssey’ ranked 2nd with $23.2 mn, raising its domestic earnings to $505.7 mn after five weeks. The adventure and thrill film ‘End of Oak Street’ took third place in its opening week with $21 mn, followed in fourth by the animated film ‘Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie’ with $20.5 mn.
The music documentary film ‘Katseye: Wild Hearts’ secured 5th place with $4 mn in its first week. Regarding the general performance of the North American cinema sector, total box office revenues during the weekend reached $160.1 mn, helping raise total annual revenues so far to $6.9 bn, a growth rate of 19.4% compared to the same period last year.
Economic indicators for the entertainment sector showed summer cinema season revenues crossing the $4 bn barrier to reach $4.2 bn, recording an increase of 26.6% over last summer.
