Dubai – The Oman’s Basketball team is set to participate in the preliminary qualifiers for the FIBA Asia Cup 2029, specifically for the first window, which will take place from August 24 to August 31, 2026, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The national team will compete in Group A of the West Asia region, alongside the host nation the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Nepal.

The matches will follow a single-round robin league format, meaning each national team will play four matches during this international window. This group holds special significance as it brings together five competitive teams vying for three qualifying berths to the second round of the preliminary qualifiers, with tournament regulations ensuring that the top three teams from each group advance to the subsequent stage.

To prepare for this major tournament, the team is holding an external training camp in Dubai from August 16 to August 24, 2026. This follows an intensive internal preparation phase where the technical staff focused on boosting the players’ physical and technical readiness, fostering team harmony, and sharpening collective tactics. The camp programme includes several friendly warm-up matches designed to evaluate the physical and technical levels of the chosen players, assess overall readiness, and test tactical strategies to determine the ideal lineup before official matches commence.

The administrative and technical delegation features team manager Ghassan bin Mahasen Al Busaidi, head coach Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Awaisi, assistant coaches Ammar bin Juma Al Kathiri and Khalid bin Hamad Al Harthi, alongside physiotherapist Sulaiman bin Salmin Al Musalami. Meanwhile, the player roster comprises twelve talented athletes: Hadid bin Abdulhakeem Bait Bakhit, Rashid bin Mohammed Al Z-haimi, Ahmed bin Rashid Al Halhali, Ayman bin Juma Al Muharrami, Ahmed bin Hamoud Al Maamari, Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Shuaibi, Osama bin Rashid Al Riyami, Bassam bin Obaid Al Busaidi, Ahmed bin Khalid Al Sinani, Zakaria bin Thani Al Wahaibi, Abdulrahman bin Hamoud Al Maamari, and Mazen bin Umair Al Hadidi.
