Muscat – The Oman Aquatics Federation has appointed Algerian coach Mohamed Bouguerra as general coach of the national swimming teams as it steps up preparations for upcoming regional and international competitions.
Bouguerra brings extensive coaching experience, including a stint in charge of the Algerian national team, and specialises in the physical and technical development of competitive swimmers.
The federation said the appointment forms part of its strategy to strengthen the national technical set-up and provide Omani swimmers with a more integrated preparation programme.
Bouguerra said he was pleased to take up the role in Oman and would focus on transferring his experience and introducing training programmes aimed at improving the performance of male and female swimmers.
He also stressed the importance of building a strong base capable of producing competitive results in future championships.
The federation said the move is intended to improve the readiness of national team swimmers and raise their technical standards as Oman looks to strengthen its presence in regional and international aquatics competitions.
