Rustaq – The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has issued a tender for the management and operation of Rustaq Fort and Al Khasfa Tower in Rustaq, inviting private companies to submit development and operational proposals.
The ministry said the project aims to strengthen the tourism and economic value of heritage sites in South Batinah governorate by encouraging greater participation from the private sector in developing and operating historical attractions.
Interested companies have been asked to submit proposals outlining plans to manage and develop the sites. The proposals should include tourism and economic feasibility studies, suggested activities, and strategies to highlight the architectural and historical significance of the landmarks.
Applicants are also required to present concepts for the use of available spaces within the sites, along with plans for cultural programmes and visitor experiences that reflect the history of Rustaq and its surroundings.
The ministry said the project aims to strengthen the role of the sites as cultural and tourism destinations through guided tours, exhibitions and heritage activities.
Proposals should also include marketing strategies targeting cultural tourism and initiatives that promote community participation through cultural and social events.
Companies are expected to outline measures to ensure the project’s long-term sustainability and economic viability, while contributing to employment opportunities and supporting in-country value.
The tender is part of wider efforts by the ministry to revitalise heritage sites across Oman and enhance their role in the country’s cultural tourism sector.
