Muscat – The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism ( MHT) launched its internal digital platform ‘Itqan’, alongside 14 electronic services on Tuesday as part of efforts to modernise operations, enhance institutional efficiency and simplify procedures.
The platform is designed to link strategic plans with project implementation, improve data accuracy and provide senior management with a comprehensive, real-time overview of the ministry’s performance. It will also support decision-making, help identify challenges at an early stage and enable closer monitoring of progress towards strategic objectives.
Asma bint Abdullah Al Sinani, Director of Digital Transformation at the ministry, said the launch of Itqan and the new electronic services reflected the ministry’s commitment to improving institutional performance and enhancing the experience of beneficiaries.
She said the platform would strengthen the link between strategic planning and project execution, while providing accurate, up-to-date data to support decision-making. The new services would allow beneficiaries to complete transactions electronically without visiting ministry offices.
Asma added that the digital solutions would promote coordination between the ministry’s departments, reinforce transparency and help employees carry out their responsibilities more efficiently.
Itqan provides project managers with tools to plan projects, monitor implementation and manage risks. It also clarifies employees’ responsibilities and highlights their contributions to the ministry’s objectives, supporting greater coordination and institutional integration.
The 14 electronic services cover four areas: adventure tourism, tourism establishments, traditional art groups and caves. The services are intended to simplify procedures and improve accessibility by enabling beneficiaries to complete transactions online.
The launch forms part of the ministry’s broader digital transformation drive to modernise its working systems, improve operational efficiency and deliver more accessible services.
