Muscat – The Directorate General of Education in Muscat Governorate organised the second edition of the Science and Artificial Intelligence Forum today, aiming to strengthen partnerships between educational institutions and local community organisations, while advancing national efforts in innovation and technology.

Held at Afifa Al Ya’arubiya School in the Wilayat of Seeb, the forum began with a visual presentation underlining the event’s significance in nurturing a generation of creative and critical thinkers. A theatrical performance was also staged to illustrate the growing role and importance of artificial intelligence in everyday life.

The forum featured a variety of interactive and scientific corners, including displays dedicated to scientific innovation, student projects, virtual reality, and hands-on experiments—all showcasing the efforts and experiences of the participating entities.

Dr Abdullah bin Khalfan al Shibli, Director of the Education Department in Seeb, highlighted the forum’s focus on AI applications currently being used to boost academic achievement. He noted the rapid advancements in the field and their role in transforming Oman’s educational system.

Wafaa bint Mohammed al Jahouri, Principal of Afifa Al Ya’arubiya School, stated that the forum serves to ignite students’ passion for science and creativity. “It aims to highlight student talent in science and technology, and to support national innovation initiatives,” she said. She stressed the importance of artificial intelligence in building a sustainable knowledge-based society and instilling the values of scientific research among the youth.

The event was held under the patronage of Professor Dr Salim bin Hamoud al Harthy, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Service at Sultan Qaboos University, and was attended by a number of educational and governmental officials.
