Oman skies to miss first total lunar eclipse of 2025

12 Mar 2025

Muscat – A total lunar eclipse will occur tomorrow, Thursday, but it will not be visible in Oman as the Moon will have set before the event begins.

According to Astronomical Affairs Department at Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs, the eclipse will last approximately six hours, with the total phase occurring from 10:26am to 11:31am (local time).

The eclipse will be visible in Australia, Africa, Europe, the Americas, and Antarctica. During a total eclipse, the Moon appears reddish due to atmospheric light scattering, known as the ‘Blood Moon’ effect.

Although Oman will miss this celestial event, astronomy enthusiasts elsewhere will have the opportunity to witness the spectacle in its full glory.
