Muscat – Muscat Municipality has announced re-tendering of the two major road development projects – 18th November Street in Seeb and Al Nuzha Street in Mabela – as part of its comprehensive strategy to alleviate traffic congestion in the city.

The first project involves the expansion of the 18th November Street by an additional lane in each direction for smooth traffic flow.

Additionally, the roundabouts at Al Mouj, Bahja, and Ishraq in North Al Hail will be transformed into high-capacity signal intersections, the municipality informed.

This initiative has been taken to improve the mobility and access under various weather conditions, which in turn can stimulate economic growth and prosperity of the establishments in the adjoining areas.

The project underscores the municipality’s commitment to promote trade and support the developmental plans and facilities in the area.

The second key project, the dualisation of Al Nuzha Street in Mabela, involves construction of dual and service roads along with traffic intersections capable of handling high volume of traffic.

This includes construction of a 11km long dualised Al Nuzha Street and six traffic intersections. Service roads running 3.5km will be constructed, along with a 25km long concrete channel for the drainage of surface water and comprehensive water drainage systems on both sides of the road.

The project has been undertaken to smoothen traffic movements along Al Nuzha and Al Salam streets connecting critical facilities and neighbourhoods. Significantly improving the surface water drainage systems and crossings in the area are also part of the same project.
