Muscat – The Oman National Junior Men’s Hockey Team will participate in the FIH Junior Men’s World Cup 2025 to be held in Tamil Nadu, India from November 28 to December 10.

The qualification marks a historic first for Oman, representing the nation’s debut at the Junior Hockey World Cup and a significant milestone in its sporting journey.

Oman’s participation follows official confirmation from the International Hockey Federation (FIH), which invited the team to replace Pakistan after the latter declined to compete. As the next highest-placed team from the Junior Asia Cup 2024, Oman secured the spot among 24 teams set to compete.

The 2025 edition will be the first in the tournament’s history to feature 24 men’s and 24 women’s teams, reflecting FIH’s commitment to inclusivity and broader participation under its Empowerment and Engagement Strategy.

In a statement, Oman Hockey Association appreciated the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Oman Olympic Committee, and all partners and sponsors for their continued support for hockey’s growth in the sultanate.

“This participation represents a major step forward in development of hockey in Oman and offers an opportunity for the next generation of Omani players to compete at the highest international level,” the association said.

The announcement marks a new chapter for hockey in Oman, underscoring the sultanate’s growing presence on the international sports stage.
