Salalah – Charter flights to Oman recorded 26% growth in the 2024–25 tourism season, with passenger numbers reaching 93,000, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has reported.

The ministry’s latest performance indicators showed increases in passenger traffic, flight operations, and economic contribution. The 93,000 visitors generated an estimated US$80mn in returns from accommodation, transport, and sightseeing activities, excluding revenues from airport landing, layover, and refuelling services.

A total of 588 charter flights operated during the season, up from 466 flights in 2023–24, reflecting stronger connectivity and demand.

Eastern and Central Europe remained the main source markets. Poland led with 31,800 passengers, followed by the Czech Republic (19,126), Italy (14,497), Slovakia (10,800), Hungary (8,100), Romania (5,323), Uzbekistan (1,930), Belarus (1,500), Armenia (530) and Bulgaria (207).

Officials highlighted both rising demand from established markets and the addition of new routes from Belarus and Uzbekistan. Efforts are also underway to tap new markets, including Spain and Russia, to expand inbound tourism. The ministry said the sector’s growth underscores Oman’s appeal as a destination for international travellers.
