Muscat – Oman-based Star Drones, part of Modern Star Businesses, plans to procure electric bikes from Bangladesh for the delivery fleet of Oman food delivery app Bees, with a full-scale assembly line in the sultanate envisaged at a later stage.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed with Bangladesh’s Piton Industries Limited, according to a press release issued on Monday.

The initial phase will involve sourcing EV bikes from Bangladesh, while the two companies later plan to establish an assembly facility in Oman to meet growing demand across the Middle East.

The partnership was announced at the Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026 at Novo Theatre in Dhaka in the presence of Md Anwar Hossain, Secretary at Bangladesh’s Ministry of Science and Technology.

Under the MoU, the two sides will exchange EV technology and strengthen their technical capabilities through reverse engineering.

Star Drones also plans to integrate Piton’s electric bikes with its drone delivery technology to develop a modern delivery network combining ground and aerial transport.

The agreement further provides for Omani capital and drone technology to be introduced into Bangladesh for large-scale local investment.

Sheikh Iqbal Zahedi, Managing Director of Piton Industries, and Said Abdul Gafur Saif Uddin, Founder and CEO of Modern Star Businesses, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies.

Hossain welcomed the agreement, describing it as a practical outcome of the innovation fair’s efforts to connect academia, investors and entrepreneurs.

A Star Drones representative said the company was impressed by the quality of Bangladeshi products and the innovations showcased at the event.

The company described the partnership as a long-term plan to expand Bangladeshi technology into Middle Eastern markets while encouraging Omani investment in Bangladesh.

Fathia bint Ahmed Al Balushi, Deputy Head of Mission and Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of Oman in Bangladesh, attended the event as a special guest.
