Muscat –  His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik left Oman on Wednesday for a two-day state visit to the Republic of Botswana, at the invitation of President Duma Gideon Boko.

The visit is aimed at strengthening relations between Oman and Botswana and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

During the visit, His Majesty will discuss opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation and matters contributing to the development of relations across various fields.

The visit comes as Oman and Botswana continue to strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in economic and investment areas. Recent cooperation between the two countries has included mining, energy, petroleum product storage, solar energy and medical cooperation.

The Botswana visit is the first of two state visits by His Majesty, with the Sultan scheduled to proceed to the Republic of Angola as part of the same diplomatic engagement.

Oman and Botswana have seen increased high-level engagement in recent years. Botswana President Duma Gideon Boko visited Oman in October 2025 and again on an official visit in April 2026. The visits resulted in agreements and memoranda of understanding covering several sectors.
