Salalah Airport customs foils attempt to smuggle 15.5kg of marijuana

Salalah -Customs officials at Salalah Airport, in coordination with the competent authorities, have successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 15.5kg of marijuana into the sultanate.

According to the Royal Oman Police (ROP), the narcotics were discovered concealed inside electric water heaters stashed within the personal luggage of two individuals of Asian nationality. The smugglers had meticulously hidden the drugs in an effort to deceive customs inspectors.

The suspects were immediately apprehended, and legal procedures have been initiated to refer them to the competent judicial authorities.

The ROP reiterated its unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking in all its forms, stressing ongoing efforts to tighten control over border crossings and ports of entry in cooperation with relevant entities, in order to safeguard the security and well-being of society.
