CPA initiative to boost consumer services

15 Aug 2023 By

Muscat – In a move geared towards enhancing consumer services, Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) launched the ‘Consumer Friendly Establishments Initiative’ on Tuesday.

The initiative focuses on improving the quality of services across commercial, industrial and economic sectors. As a cornerstone of this effort, CPA is keen on fostering a competitive spirit among businesses. This competition is expected to drive refinement of consumer services.

The main aim of the initiative is to decrease the number of consumer complaints, which is expected to be achieved by raising awareness on consumer rights, as well as underscoring the responsibilities of service providers and their workers,
CPA stated.

The initial phase of the initiative will target commercial establishments. Subsequently, service and industrial sectors that showcase exemplary service standards will be evaluated. The criteria for this evaluation will encompass customer orientation, mechanisms to ensure customer satisfaction, and the ability to address consumer needs.

To maintain transparency, the evaluation process will include registration, detailed analysis and the presentation of results. One of the anticipated outcomes of the initiative is the augmentation of consumer trust and corporate loyalty. This surge in trust is projected to fuel market competitiveness, subsequently enhancing the overall business environment, particularly in Oman’s retail and services sectors.
