Paris-  France’s government on Monday submitted a revised proposal to ban social media use by children under 15, after an earlier version of the legislation was rejected by the country’s highest constitutional authority.

French President Emmanuel Macron said the government had notified the European Commission of the new draft law after completing the necessary technical work.

Macron said notifying the European Commission was an important step in ensuring that the proposed legislation complies with European Union laws.

The revised proposal follows the rejection of the previous ban by France’s Constitutional Council, as the government seeks to reintroduce the legislation in a form that meets EU legal requirements.
