Muscat – As part of its efforts to curb begging and protect vulnerable members of society from exploitation, Royal Oman Police (ROP) has launched an awareness campaign urging the public to report begging activities and suspicious networks operating behind them.

The campaign highlights the possibility that some begging activities may be organised and managed by individuals or groups who exploit people for financial gain. Through its awareness message, the ROP is encouraging members of the public not to support such activities directly, but instead to help authorities identify and address organised begging.

The campaign carries a strong message that begging may sometimes extend beyond an individual seeking assistance, with organised networks potentially operating behind the scenes and exploiting vulnerable people.

The awareness initiative is part of wider efforts to raise public awareness, protect community members and prevent the exploitation of vulnerable individuals.

The campaign also seeks to encourage a responsible approach to helping people in need. Rather than giving money directly to individuals who may be part of organised begging operations, members of the public are encouraged to use official channels to report cases and allow the relevant authorities to assess the situation and provide appropriate assistance where necessary.
