Muscat – The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has seized 1,236 school products in Muscat governorate for displaying non-compliant and inappropriate images and symbols, including skull imagery.

The seizure was made during inspection campaigns conducted ahead of schools reopening for the 2026-27 academic session, as the authority stepped up monitoring of school supplies available in the local market to ensure compliance with consumer protection regulations.

The seized items included 463 school bags, 166 notebooks, 158 stickers, 130 rulers, 109 pencils, 70 colouring items, 43 sharpeners, 42 erasers, 25 notepads, 12 scissors, 12 stamps and six pencil cases.

The inspection teams found a number of products carrying images and symbols that do not comply with the applicable requirements, prompting the authority to take the necessary measures.

The items were seized and the prescribed legal procedures were initiated in accordance with the regulations in place.

The CPA said it would continue its inspection and monitoring campaigns to identify non-compliant school products in the market and take necessary action, contributing to consumer protection and a safe shopping environment, particularly before the new school year.
