Muscat – The Al Ansab-Al Jifnain road dualisation project has reached 90.17% completion, as Muscat Municipality continues work to upgrade the capital’s road network and improve connectivity between Bausher and Seeb.

The project, which stretches approximately 15km, starts from the Falaj Al Sham area in Bausher and extends to the Al Rusayl-Bidbid Road intersection in Al Jifnain, Seeb.

The dual carriageway will feature three lanes in each direction, increasing road capacity, easing traffic congestion and improving traffic flow along one of Muscat governorate’s key transport corridors.

As part of the project, three existing roundabouts along Al Ansab Street, between Muscat Expressway and Falaj Al Sham, are being transformed into multi-level interchanges incorporating bridges and tunnels.

The project also includes construction of four new intersections in Al Awabi, near the Cement Factory, at the entrance to Misfah Industrial Area and in Al Jifnain. These upgrades are designed to improve traffic movement and reduce congestion at key points along the route.

Works also cover improvements to several service roads running parallel to the main carriageway, construction of surface-water drainage channels and implementation of protection works to enhance the road’s resilience to varying climatic conditions.

Muscat Municipality said the project’s design and implementation were based on a range of specialised technical studies, including traffic, geological, hydrological and topographical assessments.

The studies were undertaken to ensure that the project’s components meet the characteristics of the area, existing and projected traffic requirements, and the needs arising from continued urban expansion.

Once completed, the project is expected to significantly improve connectivity between Bausher and Seeb wilayats, reduce journey time and enhance the efficiency of transport and logistics services.

It will also improve access to residential, industrial and service areas along the route, while supporting urban development, economic activity and investment.

The project is part of Muscat Municipality’s wider efforts to strengthen the governorate’s infrastructure, improve road safety and enhance the efficiency and capacity of the road network in line with Muscat’s continued urban and economic growth.
