Muscat – The third international conference of the Omani Libraries and Information Association (OLIA) opened today in Muscat, under the patronage of H E Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Undersecretary for Education in the Ministry Education. Running until February 13, the event brings together global experts to explore the role of artificial intelligence in libraries and knowledge management.
Dr Nabhan bin Harith al Harrasi, President of the Arab Federation for Libraries, described the conference as a vital platform for sharing expertise on AI applications in the sector.
The event features 41 scientific papers across 10 sessions, covering topics such as data investment through AI and digital transformation in academic and medical libraries.
The first day included a presentation on the development of Omani libraries and their role in preserving knowledge, alongside discussions on AI’s potential in improving library services. The conference also includes workshops and professional meetings with international institutions to foster collaboration.
