Rustaq – Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) has launched a campaign – called ‘Live the Vibe’ – to promote the diverse heritage and tourism assets of South Batinah.

The campaign aligns with the ongoing ‘Explore South Batinah 2025’ event, organised by the Governor’s Office, running from January 8 to 31 at White Sands in Khabat al Qadan, Nakhal.

Raiya bint Salim al Maskri, Assistant Director of Tourism Marketing Department at MHT, stated, “The campaign aims to boost tourism activity in South Batinah, showcase its unique heritage and tourism sites, and increase the number of visitors during the event,” she said.

Key attractions being highlighted include historic forts in Al Hazm, Rustaq, Nakhal and Al Awabi, alongside cultural landmarks like the wall and tower of Al Khamis and Bait al Ghasham Museum.

South Batinah’s natural wond-ers, including Wadi Bani Awf, Wadi al Sahtan and the renow-ned Ain al Thowarah hot springs, are part of the promotion.

Coastal destinations such as Musannah and Barka beaches are also featured, offering opportunities for marine excursions and adventure tours.

MHT has extended logistical, promotional and financial support for the ‘Explore South Batinah 2025’ programme. Activities include marine and beach events like sailing, windsurfing and the Maritime Heritage Exhibition, hosted at Musannah beach in collaboration with Oman Sail.

Visitors can also explore the Geological Heritage Exhibition at Al Hazm Fort in Rustaq, which opened on December 30. The exhibition showcases rare geological artefacts and educates visitors on Oman’s rich geological history spanning millions of years. It will remain open for six months, appealing to geology enthusiasts, students and tourists alike.

MHT’s efforts include a wider promotional drive to attract both local and international visitors. Advertisements highlighting South Batinah’s attractions are displayed on public buses operated by Mwasalat in Muscat. Additionally, a promotional film on the governorate is being screened at multiple locations in the capital.
