Muscat – In the first half of 2024, Food Safety and Quality Centre (FSQC) carried out a total of 256 field visits as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance food safety and regulatory compliance.

These efforts, which align with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources’ broader strategy, focus on quality assurance of facilities and strengthening inspection processes to ensure adherence to health and safety standards.

The field visits targeted a variety of establishments, including food, agriculture, livestock and fisheries-related businesses, as well as factories, warehouses, fishing vessels and commercial outlets. Inspections ensure that all facilities meet the required health and safety criteria.

Emphasising the ministry’s dedication to food safety, Dr Hussein al Masrouri, Director General of FSQC, highlighted the development of an integrated system that keeps pace with advances in food production. The system focuses on scientific methods and risk management to ensure food safety at every stage – from production and import to export and distribution.
