CAA licenses Tahleeq to manage drone operations in Oman

11 Dec 2024 CAA licenses Tahleeq to manage drone operations in Oman

Muscat – Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has granted a licence to Tahleeq Drone Services to oversee the registration and management of drone air traffic in Oman.

The licensing aims to enhance air navigation safety and regulate drone operations in the Omani airspace.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organization Security Week and a high-level ministerial meeting being held from December 9 to 12 in Muscat. Drone air traffic management service will be provided through the Serb platform, which incorporates a state-of-the-art digital system.

In its initial phase, the platform will focus on registering amateur drone operators. It will facilitate operator data registration, grant licences upon successful completion of a test, and permit drone flights in designated safe areas in coordination with military and security agencies.

The service addresses the growing use of drones and expediting permit issuance and streamlining registration processes. Additionally, the platform will monitor and track drone operations, ensuring robust security and protection against cyber threats. All data will be stored on local servers, utilising locally developed algorithms and software.
