Muscat – Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), in collaboration with Riyadh-based Digital Cooperation Organization, the World Economic Forum, and Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, hosted a workshop on Monday aimed at enhancing policies to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) in the digital economy of Oman.
The workshop focused on framing investment policies to facilitate foreign investments in emerging technologies and adoption of digital technologies across government, private and academic sectors. Discussions also revolved around the role of foreign investment in digital infrastructure and how Omani companies can expand their presence in international markets by increasing exports of digital services. This aligns with the National Digital Economy Programme and supports the broader goals of Oman Vision 2040.
Mohsen bin Salem al Araimi, Acting Director of Technology Industry Department at MTCIT, highlighted the crucial role of ongoing support from Digital Cooperation Organization and World Economic Forum in attracting digital investments. He added that enhancing digital investments would create new job opportunities and increase the knowledge base, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals.
Throughout 2024, MTCIT, in partnership with Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, has worked on several initiatives to attract foreign investments. It has also participated in local and international events to promote emerging technology companies and showcase Oman’s digital economy, aiming to attract high-quality digital investments.
