Suhar – Sohar University, in collaboration with the ‘Arid Scientific’ platform from the United Kingdom, inaugurated the 15th International Scientific Forum, marking the first event of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman. Held in the Wilayat of Suhar, North Batinah governorate, the forum carried the theme ‘University Innovation and Comprehensive Development Industry’, and attracted 1,200 researchers and academics from around the world. The event was under the patronage of Mohammed al Kindi, Governor of North Batinah.
Dr Hamdan bin Sulaiman al Fazari, President of Sohar University, highlighted that this year’s forum aims to advance scientific research and keep pace with global technological advancements. He emphasised that innovation and entrepreneurship are vital pillars for building a knowledge economy that fosters prosperity and development. Fazari noted that nations and universities must invest in research to generate knowledge and produce impactful research that drives national growth, strengthens economies, and promotes sustainable development for the future.
Dr. Saif Yousef al Suwaidi, General Supervisor of the 15th International Scientific Forum, explained that over the two-day event, 104 research papers would be presented across 33 research sessions, along with 12 lectures and five training courses. The forum will focus on the role of universities as key drivers of development by enhancing social responsibility, knowledge management, and creating innovative solutions to benefit society and the economy. It aims to foster the exchange of experiences and generate innovative ideas for the development of people and communities.
