Art heals: Juvenile delinquents showcase skills

2 Dec 2024

Muscat – Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, inaugurated the ‘Juvenile Art Exhibition’ under the theme ‘Story of a Juvenile’ on Monday evening. Organised by the Ministry of Social Development in collaboration with Bait Al Zubair Museum, the exhibition will run from December 2 to11.

The exhibition aims to raise awareness about the rehabilitation, reintegration, and empowerment of juvenile delinquents in society. By showcasing the creative talents of juveniles, the event encourages their development and motivates the community to support rehabilitation efforts. It also focuses on the importance of collaboration between government and private institutions to address social issues.

The exhibition seeks to challenge the conventional perception of juvenile delinquents by demonstrating their potential for change and growth. It aligns with the efforts of civil society organisations to improve and rehabilitate individuals. Moreover, the event promotes the values of cooperation between sectors and enriches the cultural landscape with innovative works carrying meaningful social messages.

The exhibition highlights MoSD’s dedication to nurturing the talents of juvenile delinquents, featuring a diverse collection of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and handicrafts created by juveniles enrolled in guidance and rehabilitation centres.

Muscat governorate’s support for such exhibitions reflects its ongoing commitment to preparing and implementing developmental and social planning projects. These initiatives aim to foster stronger community engagement and serve the public interest within the governorate.
