The second edition of the Samayil Festival has officially begun in the Dakhiliyah Governorate, featuring more than 14 varied events across the fields of economics, culture, entertainment, tourism, sports, and innovation. The festival will run until December 13, with participation from a number of governmental, private, and community entities.
The opening ceremony was presided over by His Excellency Salem bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism.
His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Ali al Nuaimi, Wali of Samayil and Chairman of the Festival Organising Committee, highlighted the festival’s role in enriching the Wilayat with activities that support the community and entrepreneurs. He emphasised the festival’s aim to showcase Samayil’s economic and investment potential while enhancing its appeal through cultural, social, and sports events, making it an attraction for visitors from within and outside the region.
The festival offers a wide range of activities, including the Family and Entertainment Forum, the Entrepreneurs and Productive Families Exhibition, the Samayil Economic Forum, the Industrial Products Exhibition, the Youth Innovations Exhibition, and the Sports Track (Discover Samayil). Notable events also include a cross-country race and programmes centred around the historic Samayil Fort, which will host over three activities during the festival period.
His Excellency Mohammed al Hussaini, Member of the Shura Council and Vice Chairman of the Festival Organising Committee, highlighted the festival’s expanded scope and rich content in its second edition. He noted the festival’s focus on the economic dimension, aiming to promote investment opportunities for entrepreneurs in the Wilayat. Dedicated forums for innovation and entrepreneurship, alongside the economic forum in Samayil Industrial City from December 9th to 11th, will spotlight the region’s potential for economic growth.
Efforts are also underway to market Samayil as a tourist destination, showcasing its sites to visitors and encouraging their transformation into productive investment projects.
The festival is supported by several organisations, including the Office of the Governorate of Dakhiliyah, the Office of the Wali of Samayil, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and the Authority for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises, alongside other public and private sector entities.
The festival continues to foster community engagement, economic diversification, and opportunities for tourism and investment, solidifying Samayil’s role as a hub of culture and innovation.
