Muscat – Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of Algeria, will arrive in Oman on a three-day state visit on Monday.
In a statement, Diwan of Royal Court said the visit is within the context of joint cooperation to achieve further welfare and growth in a manner that serves the two countries and meets their aspirations. ‘During the visit, the two leaderships will discuss all matters that contribute to the joint Arab action. They will also exchange views on regional and international developments.’
Oman and Algeria enjoy stable relations and consensus on regional and international issues. The partnership is marked by solid cooperation across several sectors, including energy, renewables, mining, industry, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, transport, logistics, food security and desert farming.
The two nations aim to develop their commercial and economic ties further under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Tebboune during the latter’s visit. Discussions are likely to focus on increasing cooperation in investment, energy and mining, unveiling opportunities for joint projects.
Relations between Oman and Algeria are deep rooted, strengthened by historical visits by leaders of both countries.
A joint committee formed by Oman and Algeria in 1991 is expected to play a significant role in developing bilateral cooperation. In June 2024, the two sides agreed to prepare a joint vision for an investment fund to operate across diverse sectors.
Trade exchange between Oman and Algeria reached approximately RO41mn by the end of 2023, indicating a higher level of cooperation compared to other Arab nations in North Africa. Oman’s exports to Algeria totalled RO37.3mn, while imports were valued at RO509,272.
