New Mwasalat bus service connects Muscat to Sharjah

28 Feb 2024 Mwasalat's new intercity bus service connects Muscat to Sharjah

Muscat – National transport company Mwasalat launched an international bus service linking Muscat to Sharjah in United Arab Emirates on Wednesday.

The 203km service through the wilayat of Shinas, offers two daily round trips starting from Azaiba Bus Station.

Launched as a trial for the initial week, this service is part of a broader objective to bolster transportation links between Oman and the UAE. It is a step towards realising Mwasalat’s ambition of regional transport leadership, a press release said.

The route has stops at key locations, including Muscat International Airport, Burj al Sahwa, Mabela, Suhar, Shinas ferry dock, Kalba, Fujairah and Sharjah Industrial Area 4 before ending at Jubail Bus Station.

This development is the outcome of a passenger transport agreement with Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority last month.

‘The service is not just a transportation link but a bridge to enhance tourism and cultural exchange between Oman and the UAE. It promises to offer travellers increased comfort, flexibility and a variety of transport options, thus strengthening the bond between the two neighbouring countries,’ the release added.
