Muscat – An inspection campaign was carried out by Muscat Municipality in commercial activities related to public health, including cafes and restaurants in Muttrah, to ensure that they adhere to necessary health requirements for preparing foodstuff.

As a result, the civic body issued a violation against six shops and destroyed 136 kilogrammes of unfit food and seized 13 tools not suitable for food preparation.

The municipality emphasised adherence to guidelines and requirements for both service providers and clients including disinfection of all surfaces frequently, ensuring proper ventilation, encouragement and practice of social distancing (minimum two metres) and to provide appropriate personal protective equipment to each worker/employee.

Muscat Municipality reaffirms that it will take the necessary legal procedures in accordance with the laws, decisions or recommendations of the Supreme Committee dealing with COVID-19 pandemic.
