The Directorate of Health Affairs at Muscat Municipality has started a programme to train fish vendors in Muttrah in the proper handling of food items.

Fifty vendors at Muttrah Fish Market are undergoing training in proper seafood handling and storage. The programme so far has given vendors instructions on good health practices when dealing with fish while acquainting them with the potential problems concerning food safety and the common negative practices.

Muscat Municipality strongly believes that such continuous programmes have the capability of promoting healthy practices when handling fish and this will be reflected in the quality of food items provided to consumers.
