The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF) has said that control operations are being conducted to combat the threat of desert locusts in Jalaan Bani Bu  Ali in South Sharqiyah governorate.

The ministry in a statement said that the situation is under control. Control operations were conducted in villages of Ghmilis and Assila in Jalaan Bani Bu Ali in South Sharqiyah using pesticides on Wednesday, MoAF said.

The ministry urges keepers of livestock and honeybees to take caution and not to transport bees and cattle for ten days. 

The ministry also said that it is carrying out pesticide spraying operations during November and December in South Sharqiyah and Al Wusta governorates.

It will announce the spraying times soon. The ministry has urged everyone to cooperate with it for the benefit of all.
