H E Khalid bin Hilal al Ma’awali was re-elected as chairman of the ninth term of Majlis A’Shura, on Sunday.
Elected as the chairman for the third consecutive term, H E Ma’awali got 47 votes in the electronic voting. Other candidates who were in the fray were Hassan bin Said bin Ali Kashob (Salalah), Rashid bin Ahmed bin Rashid al Shamsi (Buraimi), Sulayem bin Ali bin Sulayim al Hikmani (Mahout) and
Yaqoob bin Mohammed bin Amur al Rahbi (Bidbid).
Majlis A’Shura members also elected Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Omari from Sadah and Saeed bin Hamad bin Hilal al Saadi from Suwaiq as the two deputy chairmen.
Speaking on the occasion, H E Ma’awali said, “I will work with the members of the Majlis to take the nation forward. I thank God for this win. I thank all the members for giving me this opportunity to serve the country.
“As members of the Majlis A’Shura, we will strive to work together for the progress of the sultanate and achieve the vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.”
