OAA announces Ramadan motorsports activities this week

13 Apr 2022

Muscat – Oman Automobile Association (OAA) has announced three separate events – Digital Motorsports, Freestyle Drift and Rotax Max Challenge – at its facilities.

The events will take place at the Muscat Speedway karting track, Muscat Drift Arena and the Digital Centre.

The World Rally Championship 10 Digital Rally is being held from April 13 to 14, Freestyle Drift on April 15 and Rotax Max Challenge on April 16.

Free practice in Digital Motorsports is available for contestants every day at the Digital Centre, except on days of gaming qualifications and finals.

The freestyle drift competition is expected to be one of the best ever, with more drivers taking part to showcase their drifting skills on the track, a press release stated.

Ali al Balushi, director of freestyle drift race, said, “It’s all about the adrenaline rush that comes from drifting in tight corners with the loud noise of car exhausts, turbo and engines.

“Of course, safety comes first, and all drivers should keep that in mind at all times. We always take extra caution from our side with checking the cars, but drivers too should do their part with the simple task of putting on the seatbelt.”

Drivers in the Rotax Max Challenge will join to compete and have fun, and set goals to improve their racing skills.

Sanad al Rawahi, manager of Muscat Speedway, said, “For those who love speed, overtaking and competitive battles, this is the right event to showcase their driving skills.”

All events begin at 8pm and end by 12.30am with an award ceremony for the drivers.

For tickets and registration, the OAA main office is open Sunday to Thursday, 9am to 1.30pm, during Ramadan.
