The animated feature, which continues the adventures of police officer Judy Hopps and her partner Nick Wilde, took an astonishing $556 mn worldwide over its five-day debut.
This staggering figure secures the film the title of the biggest global opening for an animated feature in cinema history, and ranks as the fourth-largest worldwide debut of all time for any film. Critically, the film’s performance in China was exceptional, where it earned a record-breaking $272 mn, establishing it as the highest-grossing American-made animated film to open in the country. The immense success provides a significant boost to the global film industry as the year concludes.
