Khasab – Musandam Discovery Diving Centre has been awarded the prestigious PADI five-star dive centre certification, marking a major milestone in the governorate’s growing adventure tourism sector.

Granted by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), the recognition underscores the centre’s commitment to world-class standards in diving education, safety and sustainable tourism.

Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, said the accreditation places the governorate more firmly on the global tourism map. “It is a continuation of the successes achieved by Musandam in the tourism sector, including the great success of the Musandam International Diving Festival, which attracted widespread local and international attention,” he said.

He added that the milestone reflects Musandam’s distinctive assets and the efforts being made to promote sustainable tourism development.

Badr bin Mohammed al Shehhi, Director of Musandam Discovery Diving Centre, said the five-star accreditation was the outcome of years of dedication. “This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to excellence in diving education and services. Being part of the global PADI network allows us to showcase the rich natural and marine treasures of Musandam. At the same time, it reinforces our responsibility to protect the marine environment and promote sustainable tourism in Oman,” he said.

The world’s largest diving organisation, PADI has a network of over 6,600 centres and resorts and more than 128,000 certified instructors across 186 countries. It stated that inclusion of Musandam Discovery Diving Centre in its worldwide network enhances the destination’s appeal for diving enthusiasts worldwide.
