11 Feb 2025

Doha, Qatar – The Sultanate of Oman is actively participating in the ‘Sports for All’ programme in Qatar, an initiative aimed at strengthening ties among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries while promoting physical activity and well-being. Represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Omani delegation is taking part in a series of running races at the Education City Stadium in Doha from February 10 to 14, 2025.

The programme aligns with the region’s efforts to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle among all segments of society. It seeks to instil the values of sportsmanship, physical fitness, and mental well-being, reinforcing the notion that sports should be accessible to everyone.

His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Emir of Qatar, has praised the initiative, emphasising its vital role in raising awareness of sports and their health and psychological benefits for both society and future generations. He highlighted the importance of such programmes in fostering a culture of physical activity across the GCC nations and strengthening unity through sports and community engagement.

The ‘Sports for All’ programme is expected to attract wide participation, reflecting the growing regional commitment to promoting health and fitness. Oman’s involvement underscores its dedication to these values, further contributing to the collective efforts of the Gulf nations in enhancing sports participation at all levels.
