Muscat – Omani photographers have captured colourful and lively images of Eid al Adha celebrations across the sultanate.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, Majed al Amri from Amerat said that he is always on the lookout for mass congregations as these provide an opportunity to click interesting images.

“I took several pictures of people of Amerat gathering for Eid celebrations. People go to the local mosque or join any other prayer gathering for Eid prayers, after which they exchange greetings and wishes. People visit their relatives after prayers to exchange Eid greetings,” Amri said.

Joy of children
The rains in several parts of Oman in the last few days provided the perfect setting for photographer Moosa al Hajri.

“My pictures show the joy of children during Eid in the wilayat of Al Qabel, dresses in traditional Omani costumes of bright colours. What added to their joy was the weather as they roamed the streets after the rains.”

Show of riding skills
Abdul Rahman Ali al Hinai loves capturing images of Omani customs, especially traditions involving horses and camel.

On the third day of Eid al Adha, Hinai took pictures of a traditional event in the wilayat of Ibra called Ghayit Shuwa.

“After lunch, families gathered to celebrate Eid at the event venue with activities such as horse and camel shows, called ardhah,” said Hinai.

“The event included traditional cultural programmes of poetry recitation and folk song and dance performances.”

Both male and female jockeys performed a variety of impressive and thrilling displays of horse and camel riding skills and daredevilry in the ardhah dressed in traditional attire.
