World’s youngest pilot arrives in Oman

1 Jun 2022 By

Muscat – Teenage pilot Mack Rutherford, who took off in March from Bulgaria in an attempt to be the youngest pilot to circumnavigate the world solo, landed in Muscat on Wednesday.

His record attempt will see him fly over 52 countries on five continents in an ultralight aircraft. Mack was welcomed at the VIP Lounge of Muscat International Airport in the presence of airport managers and media personnel.

He later stopped by the Oman Air Flight Training Centre. ‘We wish Mack all the best on his journey to break the current world record of the youngest person to fly solo around the world,’ the national carrier stated.

Mack flew from Seychelles to Socotra in Yemen – the second longest flight of about 2,000km over the sea in his record attempt – on May 31 en route to Muscat.

“Don’t wait until you are 18 to do something special; do it even if you are young,” Mack said in a statement issued by his team.
