Muscat- The winners of the second edition of the “Engineer It with AI” competition were announced on Monday, with the OHI AI Labs team securing first place for its Ma AI project.

Organised by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology as part of the National Programme for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Digital Technologies, the competition brought together 25 teams comprising 100 participants from various governorates of Oman.

The Faheem team took second place for its Rafeeq project, while the Nawat team secured third place for its Sadeem Robotics project.

Six encouragement awards were also presented in recognition of outstanding projects and teams across various fields. Novera AI received the Excellence in Innovation award, Itqan won the Outstanding Collaboration and Teamwork award, and Sharyk received the Best Presentation and Communication award.

The Mawrid team won the Most Scalable Product award, Sandeed received the Outstanding Social Impact award, while The Oqtmizers team was honoured with the Technical Excellence award.

The closing ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr Khamis Saif Al Jabri, Minister of Economy.

The competition aims to develop national capabilities in artificial intelligence, encourage young people and innovators to create practical technical solutions to real-world challenges across various sectors, and promote a culture of innovation and teamwork.

It also seeks to support the use of artificial intelligence technologies in developing digital services and products.

The ceremony began with the opening of an accompanying exhibition, where the qualifying teams showcased their projects and technical solutions. The teams explained the challenges addressed by their projects, their working mechanisms, expected value, and potential for further development and application across various sectors.

The programme also featured a keynote session titled “The Future of the Digital Economy in the Era of Smart Agents”, which examined the impact of smart agents on business models and digital services, as well as the economic and investment opportunities they offer.

The session also discussed the requirements for enabling institutions to benefit from smart agents, highlighting the importance of developing national capabilities and establishing a digital and legislative environment that supports responsible innovation.

The ceremony also honoured institutions and individuals who made significant contributions to supporting the “Maeen AI” platform. The recognition covered four main categories, including the Data and Linguistic Empowerment Partner, Development and Quality Partner, and Pioneer in Empowerment and Institutional Awareness. The 10 most active and interactive users of the platform were also honoured.
