Muscat – The Research and Innovation Authority (RIA) has announced the opening of nominations for participation in the Global Young Scientists Summit (GYSS) 2027, which will be held in Singapore in January, bringing together promising young researchers from around the world with leading international scientists, including Nobel Prize laureates.
The summit provides an international platform for emerging scientists to engage in discussions on the latest scientific developments, exchange ideas with world-renowned researchers and build global research networks. Participants will also attend lectures, panel discussions and interactive sessions covering a wide range of scientific disciplines and future technologies.
According to the authority, the programme targets postdoctoral researchers, postgraduate students (master’s and doctoral programmes), and undergraduate students from accredited higher education institutions in Oman.
Selected participants will receive round-trip air tickets, travel insurance, a daily allowance, and accommodation and local transportation during the summit.
The authority stated that applications from higher education institutions will be accepted until August 6.
Applicants must be Omani nationals and belong to one of the eligible categories approved by the organisers. Postdoctoral applicants should have obtained their PhD within the past five years and should not hold a permanent academic or research appointment. Candidates are also required to demonstrate an outstanding academic or research record relevant to their field, possess a good command of English to actively participate in summit sessions, and commit to attending the full programme and fulfilling any post-summit requirements specified by the authority.
Eligible fields include physics, chemistry, biology, physiology or medicine, earth and environmental sciences, mathematics, computer science and information technology, applied sciences and engineering, as well as other closely related scientific disciplines.
RIA said the initiative reflects Oman’s commitment to strengthening research excellence and expanding opportunities for young scientists to engage with the global scientific community. Participation in the summit is expected to enhance knowledge exchange, encourage international collaboration and contribute to developing the next generation of Omani researchers capable of supporting the sultanate’s innovation and scientific development goals.
