Muscat – Six students from Bodhi Life and Skills Academy will represent Oman at the third edition of the Okinawa Karate Tournament and World Festival, scheduled from July 29 to August 6 in Japan. Athletes from more than 80 countries are expected to participate in the event.
The team will be led by Renshi G Kumar, who expressed pride in taking the students to Japan after months of intensive training.
“We will stop in Chennai, India, for another competition before leaving for Japan. The students have prepared for months and I am excited to be a part of the event myself,” Kumar said.
“The upcoming tournaments are expected to provide our athletes valuable international exposure and opportunities to showcase Oman’s growing presence in global karate competitions,” he added.
Three students of Bodhi Life and Skills Academy won prizes in the 2022 edition of the tournament in Okinawa, marking a significant achievement for Oman.
The academy has been operating in Oman for 20 years and has built a reputation for developing karate talent.
As part of the preparations this year, the students recently demonstrated their kata techniques before H E Kiyoshi Serizawa, Ambassador of Japan to Oman, who conveyed his best wishes for their participation in the tournament.
