Sur – Oman LNG has dispatched Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cargo aboard the newly commissioned Muscat LNG carrier, marking a milestone in the sultanate’s efforts to strengthen its energy export and maritime transport capabilities.

Owned by Asyad Shipping, the vessel is the latest addition to Oman’s LNG export fleet and is expected to enhance the country’s ability to supply global markets while reinforcing its position as a reliable energy exporter.

The launch follows the recent delivery of Muscat LNG, one of the newest LNG carriers equipped with dual-fuel propulsion technology designed to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions in line with international environmental standards.

Hamad bin Mohammed Al Naumani, CEO of Oman LNG, said the maiden shipment represents an important step in strengthening the sultanate’s LNG export capabilities and reflects the growing partnership between Oman LNG and Asyad Shipping.

“This first shipment aboard Muscat LNG reflects our shared commitment to operational excellence, sustainability and the reliable supply of energy to global markets,” Al Naumani said.

He added that the deployment of the vessel demonstrates the readiness of Oman’s integrated energy and logistics ecosystem to meet rising global demand while improving the efficiency and sustainability of maritime transport.

Muscat LNG is the first of two LNG carriers scheduled to join Oman LNG’s operations, with a second vessel expected to arrive in July. The expansion is intended to strengthen integration across the LNG value chain, from production and shipping to international delivery, supporting the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

Established in 1994, Oman LNG is one of the sultanate’s leading energy companies, exporting liquefied natural gas to markets worldwide and contributing to economic diversification.

The Oman LNG Development Foundation Investment Fund holds a 10% stake in Muscat LNG, underscoring its focus on strategic investments in the energy, logistics and maritime transport sectors.
