Paris, France – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and French President Emmanuel Macron agreed to deepen cooperation across investment, trade, defence and regional security during talks at Élysée Palace on Monday, as the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to an expanded strategic partnership.

Earlier in the day, an official reception ceremony was held at Les Invalides in Paris for His Majesty on the occasion of his official visit to France, followed by President Macron receiving His Majesty at Élysée Palace.

Discussions focused on bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments. In a joint communiqué issued after the meeting, the two leaders pledged to strengthen cooperation in key economic sectors while promoting peace, maritime security and diplomacy.

Both sides welcomed the outcomes of the first Oman-France Strategic Dialogue held in Paris in April and highlighted the growing momentum in political, economic, defence and cultural cooperation.

The leaders also inaugurated the Franco-Omani Business Forum, bringing together more than 60 companies from both countries. The forum resulted in the signing of major commercial agreements in renewable energy, water and aerospace.

The communiqué underscored the importance of expanding mutual investment by leveraging opportunities under Oman Vision 2040 and France 2030, particularly in renewable energy, hydrogen, logistics, maritime infrastructure, transport, information technology, tourism, culture and the space sector.

The two countries welcomed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on investment promotion, describing it as a key mechanism for facilitating investment flows and implementing joint projects.

They also reaffirmed cooperation in civil aviation, space and transport, including urban mobility, while welcoming partnerships involving Airbus for satellite development, and other logistics, water management and renewable energy agreements.

On defence and security, Oman and France agreed to strengthen cooperation in maritime security, intelligence sharing and combating illicit trafficking. Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding freedom of navigation and international trade routes in accordance with international law.

On regional issues, the two leaders stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving conflicts and supporting regional stability. They welcomed the ongoing diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran and reaffirmed support for restoring navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

The communiqué also reiterated support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, UN-led efforts to resolve the crisis in Yemen, and a comprehensive and lasting peace in Ukraine based on international law.

Commemorative gifts were exchanged between His Majesty the Sultan and the French President, followed by an official photograph to mark the occasion of the visit.

His Majesty expressed appreciation to President Macron and the people of France for the warm welcome extended during the visit and invited the French President to visit Oman.

His Majesty left for a private visit to the United Kingdom from Paris.
