Muscat – The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism promoted Oman’s tourism attractions and international sporting events at the Ironman European Championship in Hamburg, Germany, seeking to attract more athletes and visitors to the sultanate.

Through an information booth at the championship, the ministry showcased Oman’s tourism experiences and provided details of upcoming Ironman races scheduled to take place across the country this year.

The participation forms part of the ministry’s partnership, under its ‘Experience Oman’ promotional brand, with the Ironman Group. The initiative is aimed at strengthening Oman’s position as a destination for adventure tourism and international sporting events while expanding its presence in key tourism markets.

As part of the partnership, Oman receives extensive exposure through Ironman’s digital and promotional platforms, which reach athletes and travel enthusiasts worldwide. Promotional films highlighting the sultanate were broadcast during the championship, while the Experience Oman brand was displayed across race venues and routes.

The ministry said participation in major international sporting events helps open new opportunities in targeted tourism markets and contributes to attracting a growing number of international competitors and visitors.

Officials noted that sports tourism events generate benefits for the wider economy by supporting hotel occupancy, transportation services, restaurants and leisure activities. They also create opportunities for small and medium enterprises operating in tourism and related sectors.

The ministry added that such events provide an effective platform to highlight Oman’s environmental diversity and natural landscapes, turning race routes into promotional showcases for the country’s tourism attractions.
