Muscat – Oman Meteorology has issued a comprehensive weather alert regarding the effects of the current atmospheric condition, with heavy thunderstorms expected to begin after midnight tonight and continue through Friday. The forecast indicates that several governorates, including Musandam, Buraimi, North Batinah, Dhahirah, and Dakhliyah, will experience heavy rainfall accompanied by hail and active downdraft winds. These weather patterns are expected to extend gradually to encompass Muscat, South Batinah, North Sharqiyah, South Sharqiyah, and Al Wusta.

Authorities have warned of varying levels of rainfall intensity, with some areas likely to face extremely heavy downpours that will lead to the flooding of reefs and valleys. Experts note that some of these wadis may become torrential, posing a significant risk to safety. Downdraft winds are anticipated to reach speeds between 20 and 50 knots during these events. Additionally, parts of the Dhofar Governorate are expected to see scattered rain, which may turn into thunderstorms at intervals throughout the period.
