Muscat – The Ministry of Health (MoH) has issued a formal advisory regarding preventive measures during the current weather emergency and heavy rainfall. In an official communication directed at both citizens and residents, health authorities emphasised that water found in valleys and ponds following storms is not clean rainwater. The ministry clarified that this water is often heavily contaminated with fuel, sewage, and irrigation runoff, making it unsuitable for human contact or consumption.

The statement strictly prohibits the use of such water for any hygiene-related purposes, as well as for food preparation or drinking. Officials warned that using contaminated water from wadis can lead to serious health complications and the spread of waterborne diseases. This guidance is part of a broader effort to ensure public safety as the Sultanate continues to experience significant weather disturbances. Residents are encouraged to rely solely on treated, bottled, or approved municipal water sources for all daily needs during this period.
