Muscat – Welfare, employment, labour, consular services and community concerns were discussed during a meeting between Kenyan community representatives and embassy officials recently.

The delegation included Kenyan Social Club chairman Aphrax Luyali, vice-chairperson Julie Githua, secretary Martin Mbuta and assistant treasurer Mbarak Al Araimi.

The representatives called for regular consultations between the embassy, diaspora leaders and community organisations to address emerging concerns.

“We are happy to present our views at the embassy. Regular communication is important to ensure that the concerns of Kenyans in Oman reach the right channels,” Al Araimi said. He also added that the embassy and the community members are working closely with the government of Kenya to look into the issue of runaway maids.

H E Abdi Aden Korio, the ambassador of Kenya to Oman said, “We have urged Kenyans to participate in community, cultural and charitable events, including the Cancer Walkathon and Muscat Nights, such activities would strengthen the community and promote Kenya’s culture and contribution to Oman.”
