Muscat – The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) has reminded businesses and individuals that prior approval is required before national symbols and emblems can be used on commercial products.

The requirement applies to the use of images of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the national emblem featuring the khanjar and crossed swords, the national flag and the map of Oman.

The ministry has also prohibited the use of certain sensitive national and religious sites and symbols on commercial products. These include the Royal Emblem, images of royal mosques and images of royal palaces.

Those seeking approval must submit their applications in person to the Licensing Department. Applications should include clear images of the product, showing how and where the national symbol or emblem will be used.

MoCIIP has set October 15, 2026, as the final deadline for submitting applications.

The ministry stressed that the approval process is intended to ensure the appropriate and respectful use of national symbols and to safeguard their significance in the marketplace and wider community.
