Kerala, India – According to Kerala police, a 59 year old woman named Latha Sunil has been arrested in Kerala, India for allegedly defrauding 51 jobseekers.

The accused, a resident of Kozhikode, promised her victims high-paying positions in Oman, with monthly salaries of ₹75,000. She collected substantial sums of money from the jobseekers under the guise of visa processing and other expenses.

The scam came to light after a youth from Arattuthara filed a formal complaint. Investigations by the Kerala police revealed that the accused had provided a fake address and had even fled to the Gulf after initial complaints were made.

A lookout notice was subsequently issued against her. She was apprehended by authorities at Calicut International Airport early on Friday upon her arrival from Muscat.

Police stated that the number of victims might rise as the investigation continues, although many individuals are reportedly hesitant to come forward. The suspect now faces charges under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
